Assangthang Model Villages

Developed by the Rural Management and Development Department, Assangthang Model Village is located 8 kms away from Namchi, the South district headquarters. An eco-tourism project undertaken by the Eco-Tourism Co-operative Society, the houses at Assangthang have been constructed in the typical Sikkimese style. There is easy accessibility between all the houses. A resting place or waiting shed is built for any meeting or for simply relaxing. In front of the houses are small kitchen and flower gardens which are enclosed by bamboo fencing. Lighting of roads is done by using solar energy and wind energy.

The houses are furnished with chairs, cots, beds and blankets. The tourists here are provided with the best traditional food of Sikkim.
