Dzongu, in North Sikkim has been reserved for the Lepchas, the indigenous tribe of Sikkim. Bordering the Khangchendzonga Biosphere Reserve, Dzongu offers panoramic views of Mount Khangchendzonga and is particularly rich in fauna and flora.

In Dzongu there are 8 to 12 Home Stays where accommodation and food are arranged for visitors. You will be provided clean comfortable rooms with attached bathrooms and traditional Lepcha meals in homely style. The Dzongu Home Stays offer the best of Lepcha hospitality and cultural traditions amidst luxuriant landscape and spectacular mountain scenery.

Sikkim Village TourismYou can go for village hikes and visit the rich cardamom fields or check out the cane bamboo bridge at Passingdang. Go angling on the Teesta River or learn how the Lepchas use medicinal plants for healing. In the evenings a cultural show can be arranged on demand.

All visitors must book through a registered Travel agent from Dzongu who will take care of all permits and other formalities. No one can visit the area individually.

How to get there: Dzongu can be reached by the shared jeep taxi or by reserved taxi to Mangan. From Mangan, shared taxi to upper and lower Dzongu is available on fixed timings in the afternoon otherwise reserved taxis can be arranged from the Mangan taxi stand any time of the day.
