Pastanga Home Stays

28 kms from Gangtok in Assam Lingzey is Pastanga Village. Located at an altitude of 4676 ft. above sea level, this village has developed Home Stays with the help of a local NGO, Khedi Eco-Tourism & Eco-development Promotion (KEEP).

Pastanga offers ten home stays which can take care of 30 tourists at a time. It provides neat and clean accommodation facilities. Daily tariff is about Rs. 400.00 which is inclusive of food and lodging. Apart from the pleasure of being amidst peaceful and serene environment, tourists can also enjoy the traditional folk dances and music presented by the local men and women in their colorful traditional dresses.

The unpolluted green of Pastanga attracts many tourists. For those who want to add a dash of adventure to the simple life, you can trek up to Honey Waterfalls or take the 8 hour trek to Khedi and spent the night at the tented campsite. If you are lucky you can catch a glimpse of the Red Panda here. The area is surrounded by beautiful rhododendron and bamboo forests.

How to get there: Pastanga can be reached be shared jeep taxi from Gangtok in the afternoon or by reserved taxi. Small jeeps and cars both can reach the village which is a one hour drive from Gangtok.
