Yuksom Home Stays

Yuksum Homestays was started in 2002 by the Khangchendzonga
Conservation Committee to promote community based tourism in the area.
Initially seven homes were identified to run Home Stays and they were
provided with basic training on how to meet the needs of the visitors.
At present there are ten homes functioning as Home Stays.
These Home Stays allow visitors to experience the traditional way of
living through an exchange of culture. You can engage in local
activities, learn how to cook local cuisine or take part in agricultural
activities like kitchen gardening, etc.

Yuksum today is an attractive tourist destination and the base for
some of the most exciting treks in the region. It is also of great
historical importance to the Sikkimese with the first Chogyal crowned
here in 1642. There are many places of religious and historical interest
in the area like the Dubdi and Sangachoeling monasteries, the first to
be built in the state. You can also visit the beautiful Khecheopalri
Lake considered holy by the Sikkimese.
